Hi I am new to this site. A little background for you my mum has alzimers and has this for a number for years now but recently she has lost her mobility and she is spending more time in bed. We are waiting for the occupational health to come and visit ( have been waiting for an appointment with them for a week now). I am concerned about the length of time she is spend in bed and was wondering what type of bed we can buy her to stop her from getting bed sores and making things more comfy for her.
Thank you in advance

The OT will be able to advise you. If they think she needs a hospital bed with an airflow mattress, they can either provide it or advise you where to go.

Hello @Lynette.b you are welcome here and I hope you find the forum to be a friendly and supportive place.

I see that Beate has already answered your specific question

I hope you have time to take a good look around the site as it is a goldmine for information. When I first joined I read old threads for information but then found the AS Publications list and the page where a post code search can be done to check for support services in ones own area. If you are interested in these, clicking the following links will take you there

https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-support/publications-factsheets-full-list

https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/find-support-near-you

You will see that there are Factsheets that will help with all aspects of dementia and dementia care.

Now that you have found us I hope you will keep posting as the membership has vast collective knowledge and experience.
