Thanks for posting this, @2ndAlto - if I remember I always try to catch the Naked Scientists on the radio (in the UK) - 5am on a Sunday morning, Radio 5 Live.
I've listened to the first 25 mins. Most of it will be very familiar to forum members. The one new thing I learned - Chris Smith was talking to someone who's estimated the cost of dementia care (in 2018).
He came up with a figure of £16 billion, heart disease was £15 billion with strokes at £11 billion.
The interesting thing is, a big majority of that 18 billion is shouldered by carers, whereas with heart disease the vast majority falls at the NHS's feet.
An indication then how much money the government (of whatever party) would have to spend to take the financial burden away from carers.
