My mum has dementia and Alzheimer’s but she says vile things to my dad and hits him .
Should I tell her off when she does it ?
It’s so so hard to see !
My mum is 79 and my dad is 93.

Hello @Collette13

I'm sure it must be hard to see the changes in your mum. Unfortunately the aggression is due to the dementia and telling her off won't work as shes probably unaware of her behaviour and will just deny it all, or say that your dad deserves it all.

Physical aggression can't be ignored though. There is medication to reduce the aggression. The first place of call is your GP who can refer her to the Community Psychiatric team as they are the ones with experience of these drugs. Send an email or letter to the GP bullet pointing your concerns

Poor dad. Could you make sure he gets regular breaks away from mum. Must be so hard for him. You can’t let this go. No amount of corrections will sort mum out as each will be immediately forgotten
This is urgent stress that to GP
Good luck
