Hello Ann-Marie

Sorry to hear about your gran. It sounds like she's in the wars at the moment. Let's hope the new social worker will offer you some constructive help. Try not to feel guilty (very difficult, I know). You can't be in two places at once and it sounds like you're doing all you can.

Hiya Ann Marie,
It's a difficult problem. The NH cannot give the one to one care that would be required if your gran is to be supervised every time she moves, the alternative is to medicate her so that she doesn't want to walk about, and that is unacceptable.
We faced this dilemna with mum when she went for daycare; we decided that the risk of the fall and ensuing problems was better than medication - when she was walking, mum at least seemed to feel that she had a purpose, and seemed content. I do understand how much it hurts you though, to see your gran bruised and hurt.
Love Helen
