My father is 80 and is showing early signs of Dementia losing confidence and forgetting things repeating himself.
What should I do as a first step

Hi and welcome to TP. I'm glad you have found the forum.

Has your father had a diagnosis yet? If not then I think your first step should be to take him to his GP. There might be other reasons for your father losing confidence or his poor memory but you won't know unless you seek a diagnosis. Once you know what you're dealing with you can make plans and perhaps there will be medication available for your dad. You might find the links on this page useful -
