My dad has dementia and has recently gone backwards massively, and keeps saying he wants to leave our home and starts to pack, any ideas to calm him

Very sudden downturns can be due to an infection, UTI urine tract infection is widely quoted so a check up with the doctors might help, express your concerns first so they may ask him to bring a urine sample as part of a routine check up. Hope that helps. K

My husband packed every night over a period of a few months. He packed because he wanted to ‘go home’

I usually managed to persuade him to wait until the morning and once he was asleep, I unpacked and put everything away.

Your dad could be sundowning if infection is ruled out
