Mum's been on Reminyl XL 8mg for 6 years now (for the initial 4 years she was paying privately for it). On her last MME with the Memory Clinic she scored only 10 and they recommended that on her next review, which is in September, she is taken off it.
What I want to know is what to expect. What I have heard is that the patient relapses, within a space of 6 weeks, to what they would have been like if they had never received the meds. Is it worth me going private again as mum seems to be toodling along quite nicely on the meds? Also, after looking after her in her own home for 3 1/2 years then the last 2 1/2 at home here with me I have finally succumbed to putting her in a Care Home. Problem is the Care Home is absolutely lovely (great find after much searching) but if her needs become too great they will ask me to move her . She has only been there 2 months.
If anyone has experience of people coming off the meds any advice would be much appreciated.
