Alzheimer’s Society has been alerted to a report on elder abuse, due to be published shortly.

The study has found that the emotional and physical strain of caring for a person with dementia may result in carers being pushed to carry out low level abuse towards people with dementia such as yelling and pushing. It also found that while more serious abuse is less common, it still occurs in the home.

We understand this is a sensitive subject and will treat it with due diligence. If anyone is willing to speak out on this subject from any perspective, anonymous or otherwise it would help us draw attention to this sensitive but important issue.

If you would be happy to speak to us or would like more information please call 0207 423 3595 or email press@alzheimers.org.uk

Many thanks,

Hannah
