Yes - the OPG gave me the impression that a living will would be suitable for many people instead of the HW LPA unless you had specific requests regarding resuscitation etc - I didnt realise from the conversation how useful it would be to have an LPA in place for things such as healthcare and choosing care homes etc - my mum is a retired nurse who has cared for Dementia patients and end of life stage care and so has very strong views on what she would advise in situations - this will hopefully give me the ability to make sure that her wishes are delivered if the need arises. I also got the impression that decisions would be down to the GP and healthcare providers and this clearly although important can be more carefully considered by your appointed attorney if you want to set up an LPA HW - my mum has agreed that she wants to setup this document and we both feel happier that we now understand what needs to be done.
