just had a small thought which may help, we were in the same situation with my mum in law, care home had a place but mum in law had a fall and had to go into hospital, an assessment by the care home (and social worker)was done at the hospital,so may be worth asking either of them if this is possible or having a chat with the hospital mum is in. Please be kind to yourself you have done everything possible and more to help both your mum and dad, your dad may be feeling guilty or it may just be "his way" to hit out more verbally then usual because of this situation,either way, once mum is settled you need to put yourself (and your dog) first,maybe it would help your dad if he saw his doctor as it seems he is not coping
