Hello spree

I haven’t had any experience with sections but I do understand how upsetting this will be for you.

I also know however careful you`d been with the car keys, you might have put yourself at risk if your husband had been determined to have them.

I`m sure there will be people on soon who have had experiences of sectioning. Don`t blame yourself.

Hello Spree. So sorry to hear your story, but please don't think it was your fault; you couldn't possibly be everywhere, none of us could. This could happen to anyone, and at least your husband is safe.

I'm sure someone will soon come on who can offer practical advice. Feel for you. X

There is lots of paperwork that summarises the rights of someone who is Sectioned. Not wishing to put a negative slant on things my brother, who now has diagnosis of Alzheimer's, was carted away from respite, and Sectioned, after an incident with carers. In retrospect I think the Care Home and the Police were a little hasty but it may have been for the best as he is now in an appropriate Home. I hope this helps.

Hi spree, My wife be came violent towards me an d was sectioned under section 3 there are different types of sections, this one was only for 28 days, you need to get social services to help you in the in this, this day was the worst day in my life because my wife ended up on a 117 don t ask what this means 18 months later after a long battle her care is now funded by the NHS I know money is the last thing on your mind at present but I thought you should know this, the last 18 months have been the worst time in my life take care

I've just started a new thread on TP asking if the Az Society have an information leaflet on the site outlining the Mental Health Act? We seem to increasingly get posters asking what is a Section 11, a section 111 and a 118 order and what are the implications of these Mental Health Acts.

It would be very useful for moderators and TP posters to be able to refer to a simple, easy to read information leaflet on this.

Hi Spree-I'm sorry you and your OH are going through this. Please don't give yourself a hard time about the keys. We can't think of everything all of the time.

My Husband has been sectioned 5 times so I know a little bit about the system:(

Each time Pete was held under a section2. This is for UP to 28 days when assessment and treatment is started. If after 28 days the assessment is still ongoing the person could go to a section 3. On discharge from a section 3 all care is funded under a s117.

My advice to you is to attend all meetings that you are asked to attend. Also a word of reassurance; each time my Husband was sectioned he received specialist care which helped him no end.

Sorry this is such a difficult time for you

Take care

Lyn T

He was obviously determined to get the keys and as has been said he could have hurt you to get them.

They will monitor and change meds as necessary so he is in the right place.
