Really sicken that people can abuse their position having poa to steal money and no government agency will seek to prosecute and get their money back. Opa only remove all poa’s and place independent solicitor as deputy. Mother in law needs her money to pay for her care

I would imagine it would be extremely difficult to hide the trail of £350k so if there is evidence that a theft has taken place it can be reported to the police as financial corruption is a criminal offence. Also, the OPG can attempt to recover any money via the court of protection (again, if there is evidence a theft has taken place).

With the amount involved it would be better to seek legal advise.

If the theft means Social Services will now have to fund MiL's care, they will want to know where her money has gone. It's likely they will pursue the former PoA for Deprivation of Assets.

Hello @Torperry I would agree with @Dave63 that you need legal advice. You might find it useful to contact The Association of Lifetime Lawyers to see if they could recommend a specialist solicitors in your area. They specialise in dealing with issues pertaining to the elderly.
