I’ve just joined this forum as I was given a diagnosis of young onset Alzheimer’s just before Christmas. It’s all very new and I’m trying to understand what this means for me. I’m an ex PE teacher, now retired at 61 years old and living with my husband in the Lake District. I would like to try to find other people or groups in my area who I can learn from. is there a sub forum for this kind of question?

When I spoke to the doctor at the hospital, I was told that I would be referred to a specialist nurse. I haven’t heard from anyone yet. Can anyone advise what to expect about when a nurse may be in touch?

Hi @Jane Sarah and a warm welcome to Dementia Talking Point, though I'm sorry your recent diagnosis brought you here.
This is the sub-forum you are after I have dementia
I won't overload you with information, but this might be a useful place to start finding out what is available in your area while you wait for the nurse to contact you.

Hi @Jane Sarah

i hope you are getting on okay.

I just wanted to add that if you have not already come across it you might find the book Somebody I Used to Know by Wendy Mitchell interesting and helpful.

Best wishes!
