Next of Kin is often applied strictly within healthcare as well, so spouse comes first, if no spouse the oldest adult child is next of kin.

As I understand it the patient can nominate anybody as next of kin, it's only when they have not previously done so, and are unable to, that the legal order comes into play

Are you suggesting that the Next of Kin also depends upon living in the UK?

no, what i said was if your eldest [child] lived abroad you'd appoint your second child, from a purely practical point of view

@Rayreadynow if I recall correctly, your sibling lives in Spain and holds LPA, if they also hold H & W POA and have registered this with the care home and GP I would expect all updates to be provided to them.

Not an LPA
Deputyships for H & W are almost never given. You are expected to use best interest meetings.
