My mother is a huge Stoke City fan. She has dementia but doesn’t accept that she has. The club requires her to be ‘managed’ while she is there. Do you know of any support available to help her to keep going to the matches?

Could you get a carer or befriender to go with her?
You dont have to say thats who they are. You could use a "love lie" and say that they are a friend of yours who wants to go to the match and did she want to go with them to save on petrol?

Hi @Forrester, I friend of mine with dementia (diagnosed quite young) was a lifelong supporter of our local club, he continued to attend with a carer for support (not just to keep an eye but to help with toilet etc.) and he was happy with the arrangement, it worked really well. Obviously there was a cost to the arrangement e.g. carers time, ticket, food and drink etc but it was well worth it while he could still enjoy the experience. In his case he did actually require professional support.

It's common practise with many organisations for a carer to have free admission, maybe worth enquiring.

Hi @Forrester I also seem to recall that stoke are a leading club in respect of this area in general, am sure they installed a specialist area in the ground for carers and pwd (Was a few years ago that I read this though) but worth contacting them.
