Hi lyn t,
No it doesn't mean that your husband was fast tracked.
As all CHC funded patients should have a 3 month review after the award.
Although this doesn't always happen.
If your husband doesn't get a review after 3months if I were you I wouldn't ask for one.
However make sure you are prepared for the review as if you have been reading Cornishmans threads they can have devastating results.
Make sure you have access to the CH notes and any GP notes if he has attended your husband since being in the Ch.
Remember a well managed need is still a need .
If the care your husband has been receiving since being in the CH were removed what would his condition be.
Don't worry too much about the review but be prepared as best you can and also talk with the CH manager about your husbands care.
Mick

I've checked-my Husband WAS fast tracked

Well done Lyn for proving your point and that showing that it's not just for reasons of terminal care. That must be reassuring for others. x

Thanks Saffie

I did have a little panic as I thought they knew something that I didn't. I was told that no-one can tell when someone is going to die (true) but Pete's heart is extremely strong. I know he has COPD and asthma but he's always been extremely fit as he did so much sport. (so much for exercise keeping the dreaded dementia at bay). It was, as you previously said, due to the behaviour problem/mobility/cognition and associated problems.

Take care

Lyn T

I hope you don't have too much standing water up there?

we were told AT THE ASSESSMENT last week that mum;s funding is being withdrawn. Is she better? is lying on the carpet talking nonsense words to the woolly pattern predictable behaviour? having lost the ability to feed yourself, is that ok? Being up all night wandering, is that all right too?

It's like the gas prices isn't it, they go up fast but take an age to come down.
CHC can be withdrawn fast but takes an age to be approved.
Something's wrong there.

I send my very best wishes to all of you going for funding, I truly hope you get it and that it's backdated and that it lasts.

Loads! Still sloshing through it on the way to visit Dave and surrounded by fields with trees in them up the their upper branches. Nearby town is constantly on the local news as roads are closed due to flooding! Fortunately our village is up a hill.
I'm not near a river as you are so hope you are safe.

hi all - so a quick update.

as of this morning I still had not received a response to my father MDT assessment or my chasing emails (asking for a re-assessment).

So... I phoned them again this morning - it turns out the reports are winging their way to me and that they have agreed to re-assess my father with an independent nurse!!!! RESULT!!

in conjunction to this I received a letter from my father's Specialist in Psychogeriatrics who states " that there has been a significant deterioration in my father mental state and behaviour"

it all helps his case - I am going to be so prepared for this next MDT assessment.....

if no response from them by friday with a new date I will be chasing them again.

i will update how I get on - I think sharing info on this is really important.
