Hi there I'm looking for some advice . I currently claim Carers Allowence for my dad. How would that change if he started having council carers come in to give his meds but I still did the rest

Hello @MattsMam67 and welcome to the Dementia Support Forum. The eligibility criteria for Carers Allowance - in respect of the time spent caring for someone - is 35hrs weekly so as long as you are still spending at least that amount of hours caring for your dad weekly, even if council carers are coming in, then you will still be eligible for carers allowance. Below is the information, and link, to the government advice covering Carer's Allowance eligibility. I hope this helps, and this is a friendly and supportive place where people understand how difficult it is being a carer so please keep posting.

You need to spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone. This can include:
  • helping with washing and cooking
  • taking the person you care for to a doctor’s appointment
  • helping with household tasks, like managing bills and shopping
