Hi, new to here and I've been reading and flicking in and out of various threads.

Mum went into respite and then stayed permanently from Mid January - my question is can we claim AA? as she is at the moment self funding whilst county faff around deciding who pays what and when. Other income is pension, pension credit and another very small pension. The DWP have done all their new assessment bit and I'm the appointee. PoA is in and doing for both sections - think I've covered all my bases except the AA one, have I missed anything else?

Thank you.

AA is payable if self funding.

It stops after 28 days of funded care either in a hospital or care home, there are rules about broken periods of funded care.

Thank you, I'll go ahead and apply, will see if it can be backdated to January as she was self funding then (still is now) If circumstances change then so be it. SR
