It is coming to the stage where we are considering moving Mum with early onset into a residential care home which will be privately funded. This will hopefully be in the next few months. Up until this point, we have been having carers call with mum four times a day. She is becoming increasingly aggressive with them (never physically) but she will tell them to get out and threaten them. These incidents are always reported back to her Social worker. We are now very worried that any prospective residential homes could refuse her care if they are briefed by the social worker of any abusive behavior. Does anyone have any experience of this or know this to be the case?

Hello @Bridge2 , yes a home may reconsider a placement if there are issues with behaviour that the home can’t manage. It’s far better to be completely honest with the home in the first instance as homes will terminate a placement if a resident behaves in a way they will not accept and were not told about. That said , a good home will manage a bit of reluctance to accept care.

That's good to know, thank you. I guess a good care home should expect a bit of aggression as a common symptom of Dementia!
