I am appointee for my Dads benefits who has been in care for five months now. I live three hours away and my question is am I allowed to claim money back for train fares/loss of earnings etc. Mum is also going into a care home temporarily at the moment so have a lot to sort out. I unfortunately have a job where I don't get paid for time off so realistically although I need to travel up I have financial limitations. All I can find is a quotation saying money must be spent in Dads best interests but not to my benefit. Obviously I would be keeping receipts and accounts but would this seem reasonable and legal.

Obviously attorneys have the right to deal with all money matters not just benefits.
This site claims that "An appointee does not have the authority to deal with capital or other income belonging to the incapacitated person."
