Hi everyone, my grandma hasn't been diagnosed with Dementia but today she had a long episode of not knowing who she was or where she was, I was really hoping for some advice on where to go from here? are these warning signs of dementia? am I overthinking things? I'm sorry, I'm just a frightened granddaughter reaching out for some support, she is my best friend.

Hello @kieraedwards Welcome.

Your grandma may be showing early signs of dementia but it will only be certain with a diagnosis.

She may also simply have an episode of confusion which may or may not be caused by an
infection such as a urinary tract infection which is not apparent.

I think it will help if you keep a diary showing when she has these confused episodes and if they are too frequent suggest your grandmother see a doctor or visit her doctor on her behalf.

Have you discussed this with your parents?
