Hello Everyone,

I have been a member for a while but have not yet posted. I would appreciate some advice from you guys. I suspect that someone I know is financially abusing their relative to the tune of thousands of pounds. I have met the lady concerned on one occasion and I am not convinced that she has the capacity to agree to the release of her funds. As you can imagine, it is a rather delicate situation but I dont believe that people should be "claiming their inheritance in advance" Any thoughts ?

This is complicated... in my opinion sometimes both parties would want the so called inheritance to be used this way..and who are we to judge

If the person lacks capacity to consent to the money being used then it's theft if there isn't a LPA in place.

As a concerned friend don't know if there is anything you can do legally, AgeUK may have an answer for you. Why don't you give them a call or check out their web site, there may be something.
