Dear TP friends, I would like my Mum to be able to sit with someone in a professional capacity and prepare an Advance Statement setting out where she would like to live, what type of accommodation, who she wants to live near, who she wants/doesn't want to visit. The difficulty is that I don't want to be accused of engineering the situation and I want it to be done in the right way. Has anyone been through this? I think it is an essential step to protect her following a horrible episode in her life.

I know that your Mum has been through a long ordeal, but I cannot, unfortunately, see that such a document could be used, as the wishes expressed can only be that - wishes. If her health changes or her mental state collapses, then where she wants to be cared for may become moot.
The nearest legal document to this is the LPA, where the donor gives instruction regarding their wishes.

Others may be a ble to give you more positive advice.... indeed I hope they can.x.x.
