My dad is 98 he has severe memory loss, literally 3 minutes for recent things.
He is completely lucid, and other than his short term memory, he is still normal to converse with.
He is starting to sleep a lot sometimes two days at a time.
Because of his short term memory loss, he doesnt remember when we visit him, and constantly thinks we have abandoned him, and never visit him in his care home.
He is lonely, and depressed. He doesn't really interact with other residents as he thinks they are all ga ga and he cant remember whose who from day to day.

He is relatively fit and well otherwise, but we have no idea of life expectancy, my mum died a year ago they were married for 71 years, He doesnt want to be here anymore.

hello and welcome
your dad has reached a mighty age, just living must be tiring him out - he's fortunate to have you caring so much about him
take care of yourself too
