Hi . My mother in law is in a care home with dementia. No-one has POA, as she has always refused to set it up. My husband and his brother paid for the first two months of her care and then, because she thought she was only in for respite, she paid for 2 months. She is paid up till the end of May, but we are not sure how we will get her to pay for any more. She is very angry, determined she is going home, emphatic that there is nothing wrong with her memory - all the usual things (my mother had dementia so been there, done that but I had POA).

The family has applied for deputyship and she has the funding but of course, until we get it, we can't access her bank account to pay for her care. There is no way this will be through before the end of May, and we don't know what to do re payment of her care home.

We have been told the council might pay in the interim but don't know who or how to approach them. Or should we ask the care home to wait?

Your advice would be much appreciated.
