Moving Mum to a Nursing Home - this helped

We moved Mum to a care home last Monday ( she has Alzheimer’s with Vascular dementia and little mobility now ). I read a suggestion on this forum around midnight last Sunday , I wanted to share it with you all as we implemented it and it really helped . The idea was to have someone Mum knew waiting to welcome her to her room . Our Mum wasn’t aware we were moving her . We managed to have two people she is close to in her room with a few familiar items and her beloved Scottish music cd playing quietly . It was wonderful , she was so pleased to see them and as we sorted her clothes and things , she sat in her wheelchair singing . Those who have been through this will understand , those of you reading this and facing a similar task might just try it like we did . I hope it helps .
