We hear often on Talking Point about the challenges people face with managing their day-to-day spending, and the devastating financial impact this can have. This is something Jayne Sibley knows all too well.

"As my Mum’s dementia progressed her ability to manage her everyday spending declined.

One of the hardest challenges we faced as a family was finding a way for Mum to remain financially independent whilst keeping her money safe. Mum is capable in so many ways, but needs access to her own money in order to live her life the way she wants to. That’s why we developed Sibstar.

We believe Sibstar provides a way for people living with dementia to manage and access their own money more safely, reducing their financially vulnerability, which means they can remain independent and live life the way they choose."

What is Sibstar?

We are delighted that Sibstar is now available to the public. Inspired by Jayne’s Sibley’s experience of caring for her parents, and supported through Alzheimer’s Society Accelerator Programme, Sibstar is a new debit card and app helping families living with dementia to safely manage their everyday spending. Every piece of Sibstar’s functionality can be switched on or off according to individual customer needs and capabilities, so it adapts as the needs of individual customers change.
