Refuse to eat

Hello. My mum has recently had surgery . She has kidney cancer which has spread to the bones in her arm . The surgeon put a metal rod and bolts to secure the bones . The problem we have , is ever since she came home she has stayed in bed and refuses all medication and food . She is having odd sips of water . Has anyone had a similar experience .

How far advanced was your mums dementia before the op? Surgery can often advance the dementia, often by quite a lot. Has a doctor assessed her since the op?

You can get fortified drinks like ensure and fortisip which you can buy or can get on prescription.

She is in the late stages of Alzheimer s . The surgery does seem to have advanced it considerably. She hasn’t had any assessment since the op no . We could probably organise this though .
We can also look into the fortified drinks . Thankyou
