Hi, my mid 80s Mum seems likely to have fairly rapidly developing dementia. She lives with my severely disabled, anxiety ridden but otherwise fairly with-it father. We have an array of carers for my Dad and now my Mum is needing care too. The GP is onboard and has referred Mum to the Community Mental Health Team. I have hundreds of questions but right now I'm wondering what to expect from the CMHT and what are the pros and cons of getting a diagnosis? My mum has never admitted that she has a problem and I fear that testing and diagnosis would be very tortuous for her as she has a lifelong horror of getting dementia after her mother had the same awful disease.
I'm so glad I found this group!
