Hi,

I have a friend who has a that mum has physical disabilities and early stage dementia. She has been receiving direct payments for all of her care in the past from social services. However, for nearly 10years she has had no social services care support review or any financial assessment My friend is worried in case her mum owes them money because of her savings. Given that social services should’ve done reviews every 12 months both for her care and financial assessments and haven’t, can anyone tell me what would likely happen if it was found her mum did owe them money. Can social services even try to pursue any monies owing if they didn’t do assessments. My friend is just trying to help her mum sort out her finances but she wanted to be armed with some knowledge before she tackled it all.

Thanks

i'd say ''it depends''

if nothing much changed significantly, it wont make a great deal of difference
if the patient inherited a lot of money, i think the onus is on them to volunteerthat informtion .

Yes, i believe that can persue repayment.
