Hi everyone,

We've had the below request from our Media Team:

Alzheimer’s Society’s media team is looking for people who would be happy to discuss their experiences in the national media.

We are particularly interested to hear stories about people who have had problems getting a place in a care home for someone with dementia, as well as people whose loved one has been asked to leave a care home, possibly at short notice.

Alzheimer’s Society campaigns to improve care for people with dementia, and we find that telling the stories of real people is a key part of doing this effectively.

If you would like to take part, then we would love to hear from you.

Please call Olivia Dunn on 0207 423 3591 or email olivia.dunn@alzheimers.org.uk

A very useful initiative methinks.

Haven't anything current to contribute ...

When we were looking for a nursing home for Mum 2 years ago, there was a theoretical "choice" of only two in the same town (the place being close to my parents' home and accessible by bus or taxi was important because we knew Dad would want to visit every day). One home refused Mum because she was too mobile then; it was also not on the bus route. The home Mum is now in only takes self-funders and only had one vacancy at the time.
