Hello everyone
Can anyone please advise me.
I got married last year and my brother also married this year. My mother has Dementia and currently lives with me. Her house is about to be sold and she will have some money left over after buying another house round the corner from me which she will be living in part time with carers ( part time with me) Is she allowed to give my bother and I £5000 each as a gift for our marriages now that she has funds available? Or would this be seen as deprivation of assets if she needed help from the LA in the future? Also can she give my sister £1000 as she has not given any gifts of money because she has had her money tied up in her home. I am worried about the LA coming back to us in the future if she needs help.I have LPA for my mother.
Many thanks
Sally
