Hello my mum is 98 currently in care home
For 3 years very happy with it she used all
Her savings of 85k plus and property on charge back to council. She has dementia
And council threatening to move and asking

From what you have told us here, it would seem that the care home your mum is in costs more that the council are willing to pay and so they can ask family members to top up the fees if they can . If you can’t or don’t want to then social services can offer to move your mum to a home they are willing to pay for. It might be worth speaking with the home to see if they would accept the council fees with out a top up from you. Also worth pressing the council to pay more at it is probably in your mums best into remain where she is being well cared for especially given her age.

Yes, do argue that surely it cannot be in your mum's best interests to move at her age as it would really un-settle her which would not be good for her, and also argue for her to stay put without top-ups, which are voluntary not compulsory. Good luck.
