Increase in care home fees

Hi, I’m Denise, and I received an invoice today from my local council saying my mum’s care home fees have gone from £546.55 a month to £840.58. Totally out of the blue, no previous correspondence. That will only leave me £53.42 a month to help to buy clothes, toiletries, put towards outings, etc. I’m totally shocked by this, and wonder is anyone else has had a similar experience?

Does your mum pay for all of her care or is it part funded. This would be a small amount a week to pay let alone a month for full fees.

It is part funded by the council

It’s part funded by the council as she doesn’t own her own property and has very little in savings

when you say she has very litte savings, were is she with the financial threshold limits?
