Hi,
mum has been in a care home since January. Her home insurance is due to expire and I’ve just realised I’ll have to get specialist insurance for her house whilst I’m clearing/ selling it.
has anyone got any recommendations of companies that do this? The normal insurance companies don’t seem to offer ins for unoccupied properties.

Hi @Suzysheep01
Has the existing company said no? We’ve had this and the company just changed the particulars on our policy and included certain conditions such as draining the water etc.
If no joy perhaps try through a broker.

If you can guarantee that somebody checks on the property every x weeks it may help with the quote.

The company has said that they don’t insure unoccupied properties. It’s Direct line.

I go in there most days as I’m clearing it out ready to sell.
