Mum was diagnosed with dementia in Oct. Dad looks after her but has his own health issues as he’s registered disabled. He’s struggling to cope.

Hello @bluebellz and welcome to the Dementia Support Forum. This is a friendly and supportive group and it's good that you've found us as you will find lots of information and advice here about all aspects of dementia. Sorry to hear about your mum's recent diagnosis, do your parents receive any help at home at the moment? As your dad is struggling and has his own health issues it would probably be a good idea to get in contact with the adult care team at their local authority to request a care needs assessment if you have not already done so (details in the link below):

https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-support/legal-financial/dementia-care-needs-assessment

You may find this Dementia Guide helpful too as it includes practical information about Lasting Power of Attorney and benefits and also support resources:

You will hopefully find the reading material useful, and also reading through some of the threads/messages here on the forum, but if there is anything specific you would like information and advice about you could also perhaps start a thread in the 'I care for a person with dementia forum' as forum members are happy to offer help and advice if they can:

Hello @bluebellz and welcome from me too to this forum. It really is a great place for members to share experience and offer advice if requested.
You have already had good advice from @Louise7 which I cannot really add to.
Please also remember you will always find understanding here, so if you need to have a bit of a rant or let off a bit of steam, this is a safe place to do it.
