Hi,
I'm Kale-and-mash and have been reading posts on the forum for the past few years and have finally become a member. I am extremely grateful for being able to read all the tips and advice that you friendly, supportive members have posted, thank you all! The information has been incredibly valuable to me and my family in our efforts to care for my mum who has dementia. After a number of years with the illness at home, she now lives in a care home specialising in dementia. I hope I can join in discussions now and maybe even tentatively venture to suggest tips and ideas to others in similar situations.
All the best,
Kale-and-mash

Don't be tentative, if there is anything you wish to add go ahead. Hopefully every tip and advice we all give builds a huge reference library for those that have not yet joined because dementia has not yet entered their lives.

Welcome to talking point.

Welcome to TP kale & mash.
Just a posh version of Colcannon isn't it:)
Still welcome anyway.

Thank you very much, LadyA, Tin and KevinI.
Haha! Kale is quite down-to-earth really. Called "farmer's cabbage" in one language I think. Very good when mashed with boiled spuds. I think I was just hungry when I thought up my username.

Well call me Kebab Kev on that basis. Best thing to do with kale is chop it up fine, toss in oil, sprinkle in salt, pepper and shrimp powder, spread it out on a baking sheet and bung it in the oven for 10 minutes. Crispy kale nothing like it, unless you get fried seaweed from a takeaway which is the same thing.
