Hi everyone,

My mum gets very agitated when anyone comes to the house to assess her but we need to get a new care assessment done.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to make this less of a trauma for her? Should we consider not telling her in advance and just let them turn up or will this cause more distress? Any advice appreciated.

Do you live there to? If so just say you have invited someone round for coffee- not lieing just not being economical with the truth. If you don't live there , then perhaps meet the lady outside and enter together to do the introduction so your mum doesn't feel threatened. I would avoid mentioning "assessment", or anything like that- just keep it nice and vague.

Thank you for your reply.

I don't live there but I could go over when the assessment takes place - I'll suggest this, thank you.
