Hi! I am Karen, my 90 year old father has Alzheimer’s. He lives with his wife but she refuses to get any help in. My father’s condition is deteriorating fast now. My sister and I are really struggling with all sorts of things. His behaviour, her behaviour, guilt, fear, anger, sadness. Is there anywhere that family members can get support and advice?

Hi Karen, welcome to Dementia Talking Point, this is a friendly and supportive place. Sorry to hear about your father and how this is affecting you and your sister. It can be quite common for a partner to not want to accept that extra help is needed, and try to take on everything themselves, but this can end up effecting their health too. People here understand, and you will receive support and advice here too, but both the Dementia Support Line and Admiral nurses are also a great resource in terms of talking through issues and suggesting a way forward, plus they can also point you to support that is local to you.
