Has anyone had experience of using one of these? My mum has managed to get herself lost a couple of times - she does have a mobile and sometimes she is able to call us if she is in difficulty but not always. She does however, always manage to find her way home eventually. (At present any way!).

My brother is keen to get her one of those GPS units that you can track. The one he is proposing costs £190 which seems a bit over the top to me. It does however have lots of features - you can text the unit and it will text back with the coordinates of its position on a map online so you can immediately tell where the person is. It also only need charging once a week.

My question really is - if you've used one of these - was it any good and if not what we're the issues with it?

For such an expensive purchase I wanted to hear some real world experience first!
