Hello, my 83 year Dad has Alzheimer’s. He was diagnosed in August and nobody is able to tell us what stage he is at, but he seems to have got a lot worse since diagnosis. He started patches 3 weeks ago on 9.5mg and has complained today about pain behind his eyes. Has anyone else come across this? I can’t find any information linking the pain to the medication or Alzheimer’s. Please can you help? Thank you x

Naming the medication would help members describing their experiences.

If the pain becomes severe ring 111.
If it continues as it is contact GP, prescriber, optician.

Hello @Joabi Rivastigmine can cause eye pain. I would agree with @nitram Please call 111 if the pain is severe. Otherwise contact your GP as soon as possible.

Get it checked out in case its something else rather than a side-effect of the rivastigmine. Opticians are usually good at spotting problems within the eye.
