Hi - my partner has early onset Alzheimer’s and was then also diagnosed with breast cancer - devastating for one so young. If there is a tiny thread of comfort, it is that she forgets about the BC a day or so after treatment or consultation. I add support but without mentioning the c-word, just phrases like ‘you are doing amazing’, come on, let’s go out for a while. I would always advise to let the oncology team know everything about the dementia and keep in regular contact with the Specialist Nurse. Stay strong and smiley and enjoy the many good times ?

Hi

Thanks for your kind words. It sure is difficult at times, especially when there appears to be a deterioration in condition.

We are very fortunate to have a fantastic carer twice a week, who makes my wife very happy and this also allows me to have a short break from caring duties. Otherwise, I cannot leave my wife alone.

If anyone out there is in a similar situation, let me know your thoughts.

My advice would be to explore and accept any offer of help and support, from the GP and from the NHS Mental Health team.

Love to everyone ❤️

I found the Mental Health Team gave me the best support possible. Anyone who gets help and support from them is fortunate.

Good to know you feel well supported @Yarrow,
