My 87 year old dad was diagnosed on Friday with all, we'll he kicked off and is very volatile anyway but my poor mum doesn't have the life of a dog with him anyway, she is 82. They both stay with me a single 48 year old. So the psych has not put him on any dem medication yet and has prescribed the Trazadone to calm him down, 50 mg morn and night, just wondered if anybody had any experience of this?

My husband took Trazadone to calm him down. It wasn`t a miracle worker but it did help. I can`t remember the dose.

I hope it helps your dad.

my son took trazadone when he was ill a couple of years ago, it was very good at calming the panic attacks and enabling him to sleep, he had to take it at night because it knocked him out. I know it's not dementia but thought I would tell you anyway
