Constant pacing = swollen legs - any suggestions?

My mum is in a brilliant nursing home, and spends practically all day on her feet. She does sleep well at night, but that is the only time she has her legs elevated.
She now has very swollen calves and they do seem to trouble her.
She will not accept being encouraged to sit down at all (aggression).
Does anyone have any suggestions/tips/magic wands that we could try to help her either elevate her legs or do anything to relieve this pressure?
I doubt it... but am happy to try anything! The nursing home have no further suggestions, but I'm sure if I suggested something they would try it!
Many thanks.

Hello @PollyM

I don`t have any tips to stop your mother walking. My mother was a corridor walker too .

I just wanted to ask if the swelling could be fluid retention and has your mother been seen by a doctor?

Thank you. The home did say they would look into that and get the GP to have a look, but I haven't heard back from them about that yet.
