Just been told my 83yr old mum has mixed dementia, dont know what to say to her. Love her to bits.

There isn't much to say. If the diagnosis is recent I would just let her know that she is the same person as she was the day before she knew she had dementia. A few hugs would also help to reassure her. I know these things helped my wife when she was diagnosed as she was overcome by feelings of insecurity and a gut reaction that life was over.
BTW, welcome to TP. This is a friendly and informative place - you won't encounter any of the nasty types found on other social media forums.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis and understand how upsetting it will be for you.

Unless your mum wishes to talk about it, I wouldn't`t mention it. When my husband was diagnosed, it was generally accepted he had problems with his memory but Alzheimer`s and dementia were words not used until he asked about it.

Just try to be yourself, a loving and caring daughter, and follow your mum`s needs.
