Actress robbed of savings

I have just been reading about an actress who had dementia and the person who had Power of Attorney for her stole all of her saving of over £60,000.
He only got two years for such a breech of trust.
She has now passed away. Such a sad story.

I don't want to mention too much because there has been a case in my local paper and some people are despicable.

Absolutely, I don't know what can be done to stop this happening as I assume that any form of monitoring would be too expensive.
