How long do I need to wait before I have to sort out pension dad only gets the government pension as has been away from home now for 13 days got a meeting with social services this morning and who do I contact to sort it out also got house insurance coming up which is in dad's name can I still pay it on his behalf thanks

your dad will receive his state pension regardless of where he is at any time .... and only a permanent change of address needs to be advised
maybe you are thinking of Attendance Allowance, and Carer's Allowance... in which case a phone call will help sort out what will eventually need to be done

of course you can pay the House Insurance for him, they won't worry about where the money comes from as long as it's paid and remains in his name as property owner
