I think my dad is fast approaching nursing care, as he went in to EMI residential for respite and they said they could not take him anymore because they could not meet his needs. Can anyone explain to me the cost of nursing care does the nhs cover this or does it just get more expensive :(. Thank you

If your Father is assessed as needing nursing care then your local NHS trust will pay this fee direct to the nursing home, you will not be involved in this financial transaction..

It might be that your Dad needs an EMI dementia home, his needs might be more specialist dementia care than actual nursing care.

An assessment will sort this for you and then you will know what type of home you need to look for.

Hopefully you will find one that will cover your Dad's needs and he settles well.

Sorry not sure what you mean i thought EMI was dementia, it was a secure unit with only dementia.

He is at home but not sure how much longer I can cope.
