Attendance allowance

Does anyone have experience of what happens to attendance allowance when the local authority starts contributing to care home fees? Does the AA stop or go to local authority?

It stops. Let the DWP know as soon as possible about the change is payment.

Attendance Allowance is payable to the person for 28 days beyond the date that Local Authority funding starts. For that period the person's contribution to care costs will be higher to reflect the income from Attendance Allowance. It will reduce when the allowance ends. The person in receipt, or their representative, should inform Department of Work and Pensions once the funding start date is confirmed. I did this by telephone and received a letter confirming the end of payment.
