My Mother has been on Zoplicone full does since start of week. Monday and Tuesday she slept right through but Thu and Fri were very intermittent.

When awake she is calling out and repeating herself.

The instructions for Zoplicone say to take them just before bed.

Has anyone had experience of using this tablet and if there are best times to take it etc.

Have had them occasionally with good effect. Our G P has only ever used them on a temporary basis to avoid dependency on them.

3.75mg for mum and just before bedtime, acts quickly. Was also instructed to miss out at least 2 nights per week. Did not give to mum every night because it seemed to increase her confusion, active bladder and very unsteady next day and sometimes did not work- after only 2 hours sleep she would be up wandering and doing some very strange things. Decided to give only when absolutely needed. Original prescription was for 14 in August 2014, we have 4 left. All mums meds were reviewed and changed in March this year. Nights much better now, although we do have a few sleepless nights, but a massive improvement all round from last year.

My husband has been taking them since last October every night. No side effects. However after a few months the Doctor topped them up with Trazodone. Usually he sleeps well.

Zopiclone leaves mum sleepy and extra confused the next day so we only use them after a run of bad nights to get a good sleep.

Hi chakras. My mum was prescribed zopiclone last year and I used it infrequently but found it didn't work very well. My mum was recently reviewed by doctor specialising in dementia who recommended I stop the zopiclone , as he didn't feel it worked well in dementia patients and commenced her on trazadone . This has been very beneficial and she sleeps well for 5 out of 7 nights, which is a great improvement . Occasionally when she is restless I give her one paracetamol as I have read research that it helps and it works well too. Best wishes.
